The Cote D’Azur is an area of oustanding natural beauty and has been colonized since Roman times. The major towns of Menton, Monaco, Nice, Antibes, Juan Les Pins and Cannes are all famous for their beautiful settings and the sophisticated lifestyles enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. The Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix, Nice Carnival and Jazz at Juan-les-Pins are amongst the many regional events.

Just inland there are smaller villages, many of which have developed from medieval defensive strongholds. Biot, Villeneuve-Loubet, Valbonne, Mougins, St Paul de Vence, Tourettes sur Loup and Eze are all worth strolling through. There are superb cafes and restaurants, and the artists’ galleries and shops are highly distinctive. Market-days are a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
